Kildare 3‑11 Laois 2‑9
Kildare delivered a powerful second‑half performance to overcome Laois and claim the Leinster Minor B Camogie title after a fiercely contested provincial final.
With the sides evenly matched throughout the opening half, Kildare showed patience and composure, keeping in touch through the accurate shooting of Aoibhin Delany, who converted a well‑struck ’45, and the lively play of Aoibheann Birchall, who opened Kildare’s account from play. Ruby Baker added two important points, while Alex Solan contributed three first‑half scores, including a crucial late point just before the interval to ensure Kildare carried momentum into the dressing room.
That belief was quickly rewarded after the restart. Kildare emerged with renewed intensity, with Aoibheann Birchall adding to her tally with a well‑taken point, the Lilywhites were soon celebrating when Alex Solan burst through the centre of the Laois defence and drove the sliotar into the net with conviction, lifting the team and their vocal supporters.
Sustained attacking pressure followed, and Kildare struck again as relentless pressure inside the danger area led to a goalmouth scramble, the second goal being credited to Ruby Baker, pushing Kildare further clear.
The decisive blow came midway through the half when Kildare were awarded a penalty. Aoibhin Delany showed nerves of steel to calmly dispatch it to the net, firmly swinging the contest in Kildare’s favour. Delany later capped a superb personal performance with another beautifully struck ’45.
While Laois battled bravely to respond, Kildare managed the closing stages with maturity and composure. At the final whistle, celebrations erupted as Kildare were crowned Leinster Minor B champions, with captain Keeva Flynn lifting the cup. Bainisteoir Seán Uí Riain praised his side afterwards, saying the victory was built on teamwork from the panel of 30 players, discipline and a ruthless second‑half display.
